Canadian law requires that any person exposed to hazardous materials in the workplace must be trained in Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, commonly known as WHMIS.In Ontario, WHMIS applies to all workplaces covered by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) along with federally regulated workplaces governed by the Canada Labour Code (the Code).
NABET 700-M UNIFOR offers WHMIS training on an ongoing basis at a subsidized rate for our Members and Permittees. While it is not a current requirement for NABET 700-M UNIFOR membership, more and more Productions are requesting that technicians obtain the certification.
The cost of the course is $10 for Members and $20 for Permittees.

This comprehensive WHMIS 2015 course includes the new Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling for chemicals (GHS) enacted in 2015. It also covers content from the previous WHMIS system (WHMIS 1988). This training program is designed to provide workers with information about hazardous products used, stored, handled or disposed of in the workplace.
This course consists of 6 chapters and a final exam. Average completion time is 1-hour in duration. Once you pass your exam, you may print your certificates of completion (wallet and wall sized). Training may be paused or resumed at any time, is fully narrated, and includes interactive exercises to ensure understanding of course content.

A computer is required. If you do not have access to a computer, you can schedule a time to complete the course at the NABET 700-M UNIFOR office.
The office will send you the link and the login details to the provided email address in order for you to take the training.
*This certificate is valid for 3 years. Individuals or employers may use their best judgement to set their own expiration period from within their training account.
Payment is required up front to secure your spot. No holds, no reservations. Payments are processed Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with VISA, VISA Debit, MasterCard and AmEx.
