Makeup
Technician 101
NEXT COURSE DATE: TBD
Instructor(s): Candice Ornstein
Cost: FREE
Limit: Maximum 10 participants
Format: In-person
Spend the day brushing up on the 101 makeup skills you don’t often get to practice or wish you knew more about! Consisting of short lectures and demonstrations throughout with the key focus being hands-on practice, this course is designed for Permittees looking for further information on how to achieve certain makeups and prepare for their trade test.
Training will be set up like being on a film set with six straight hours of work where you can snack in between clean-ups and set-ups.
While you work, Makeup VP, Candice Ornstein, will answer your questions, provide correction, go over techniques, products, and expectations for becoming a successful NABET 700-M UNIFOR Member. Organization, keeping it simple, and a confident approach will often get you to the finish line of creating camera-ready looks that are beautiful, effective and done in a timely manner. Topics include: tattoos, covering tattoos, special effects, the basics of straight makeup and period looks, and detailed work vs. broad stroke applications. After a day of practice, the goal is to leave this 101 Training with further excitement to keep learning, more confidence in your work, tips + tricks, and product education. Participants will also gain knowledge of how to do research, and how to take an idea across the finish line for a camera-ready look.
Requirements:
Bring your typical daily kit. Please refer to the original outline of what a makeup artist should have with them to be able to do anything at any given time.
Bring one tattoo (3 inch minimum).
Research an image of a real casualty you’d like to recreate with makeup.
Models (optional):
A model is required during your Makeup Trade Test. This class will be a good opportunity to source a model and practice your skills on someone else. However, this is optional for training and you will be able to complete the class without one.
